Emmett & Madison

A Grand Lodge New Years Eve Wedding

I heard from Madison’s mom as soon as Emmett proposed with the words “We wouldn’t want anyone photographing it but you.” And I immediately said “YES!” I first met Madison when she was a bridesmaid in a friend’s wedding I shot and then again when I photographed her brother’s wedding. So, I was honored when they asked me to come spend New Years Eve with them for their big day.

I showed up at the Grand Lodge that day and it was about 19 degrees outside. The entire third floor of the lodge was full of laughter while Madison and her girls got ready. They’re a really close bunch and it was so fun watching them interact together. Madison & Emmett are both chill so they were pretty relaxed all day and they truly cared about their friends and family that¬† surrounded them rather than getting lost in things being strictly about them. The only thing Madison asked for all day was some outdoor photos. So, Robyn (my second shooter) and I bundled up in multiple layers and set out with Emmett, Madison, and their wedding party for downtown Paducah photos. Once we got out there, even though we were moving quickly, Madison realized just how cold it really was. We did some bride & groom portraits and wedding party shots and then she had me tell the wedding party, all in multiple vehicles, that they could go back to the Lodge and forego our second shooting location. BUT, her girls refused! If she wanted outdoor photos, they were going to give her outdoor photos! It was incredibly sweet of them! So we made a stop at Grace Episcopal church for some quick pictures in their courtyard.

Their candlelit ceremony was beautiful and their was barely an empty seat. Then the room was transformed for the reception for such a fun NYE party! The dance floor stayed full until midnight and the new Mr. & Mrs. Riley shared a kiss right at the countdown. It was such a fun night! And it goes down in the books for a perfect wedding day!

First Look with her girls…

First Look with her dad…

Robyn even caught her dad wiping a few tears after he saw her and sent her upstairs to see her groom.

Finally, a first look with her man!

Our first stop was where Emmett proposed!

Robyn took this while Madison waited in my warm van!

A great friend…she held all the coats for the ladies!

While the room was being flipped, they snuck away to eat together, just the two of them.

Emmett & his mom started their dance like normal but then they surprised the entire room with a more fun dance!
