hello! I'm Makenzie!
I'm a wedding photographer and stationery designer in Western Kentucky. Thanks so much for stopping by the blog! This is where you can see my latest shoots & weddings, get some advice, or see what it's like behind the scenes! I hope you stay awhile.
Summertime is such a sweet season. It’s enjoying the sunshine. It’s eating watermelon. It’s making memories. It’s staying up late because it’s light outside. Summer has always been my favorite time of year. And then I became a wedding photographer and I did some things wrong.
I let “wedding season” rule my life and I quit enjoying summertime. Now, don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love my job. I truly do. But of course, most of us wedding photographers shoot a ton of weddings in the summer! I use to book almost every single weekend May-July solid and it ran me ragged. I have finally reached a place in my business where I can shoot less and earn the same, if not more, and feel balanced. So, as 2014 began booking up, I purposely went through my calendar and marked dates off. As much as I love shooting weddings and enjoy my clients, I want time… I NEED time off with my husband, our family, and our friends. I think most of them would tell you that I’m easier to love now too! haha!
So, all that to say, I was off this past weekend and we spent it at the lake with our small group. Someone in the group had the hook up for a free place to stay and it was gorgeous! It was a huge house, tucked away in the trees with a beautiful view of the lake. We bought a bunch of food, packed up the dog, and headed out on Friday afternoon. It was fun, yet relaxing and really allowed our small group to bond more. We ate, roasted S’mores, sat by the fire, fished, ate, canoed, ate, floated on a raft in the water, ate, played games, ate, laughed…and did I say we ate?! Our healthy eating went out the window for the weekend! Here are a few pics from the weekend…some are with my new camera and some are with my phone!
Our car was FULL!
The view was awesome!Horribly exposed and cropped…that’s the joy of self timer on a picnic table!Raleigh went for a canoe ride!We decided the raft should be pulled behind the canoe!Jameson & Sara joined us with the kids!
