"The best thing to hold onto in life is each other."
My business began when a friend asked me to shoot his wedding. I hadn't touched my camera since I graduated with a minor in photography the year prior. After a sob fest of nerves on the day of their wedding, I shot it and immediately knew I was made for this. I began booking weddings and my business took off! Over the years, something shifted. My marriage continued to grow and I began to develop a passion for more than just shooting weddings. God really began to grow my heart for healthy marriages. When it became more about my relationship with my clients and hope for their future rather than just giving them pretty pictures, my business was transformed. I definitely strive to give beautiful wedding photos, but it's friendships with my clients and watching them enter into something special that has been the biggest reward.
Brett and I met through mutual friends in college during a kickball game and now we've been married for almost TEN years! He is kind, gentle, funny and he makes me a better person. Our daughter, Gracen, is FULL of personality! She brings so much laughter and joy to our family. When she smiles, she smiles with her whole face and it can turn any mood into a happy one!
We began the adoption process in 2013 and one year later we were chosen by a brave and amazing birthmother. We chose her name (Gracen) because God's grace and faithfulness was constant through our journey to a baby. We met her when she was 10 minutes old and she instantly became our daughter. Adoption changed our lives and our hearts and it brings us joy to watch families grow in that way.
I will jump at any opportunity to travel! I especially love visiting new countries and learning about different cultures. But I also enjoy traveling the US...from the iconic places everyone knows and loves to the small towns that most people don't know exists.
Besides home with my family, my favorite place in the world is Chiang Mai, Thailand. After college, I lived there for almost three months. I taught English on a college campus and immersed myself into their culture through friendships with my students. I lived outside my comfort zone and fell in love with their country, knows as The Land of Smiles.
One of our favorite things to do is eat out and try new restaurants. I use to be the pickiest eater, but as I have gotten older my palette has grown and trying new foods is fun for me! Brett and I really enjoy visiting new restaurants with different environments and trying new food that is unique to that place. We will walk or drive extra lengths to find a well recommended meal!
My drink of choice is and will always be Coke. It's a horrible addiction, but it's my guilty pleasure. I will always choose a fountain coke from a styrofoam cup, but a can over ice will do too. I try really hard to limit myself to one a day, but sometimes a busy working mom gives in!
